What to do on Valentine’s Day in Zurich

I was looking for a nice spot for Valentine’s Day for me and Gabriel and thought, well, if I’m doing the work anyway, I might as well share it with you in case it helps someone.

After a bunch of thoughts I came up with a few categories that I feel could be a great fit. In each category you will find great restaurants that I tested personally, aside from one exception: the Blindekuh.

The Casual

  • The Artisan: A cozy spot with a really pretty interior. Good if you want it to feel special but not stiff.
  • Iberia Tapas: Delicious tapas dishes to share. Context is everything here: if you want the busy city vibe, the Niederdorf location is there. But if you are like me and prefer something a bit more relaxed, I love the location in Albisriederplatz much more.
  • La Brea: Casual Tex-Mex with yummy tacos.

Asian Picks

  • Seam: A great Japanese Kappo restaurant.
  • Sala of Tokyo: The first Japanese restaurant in Switzerland. Go here specifically for the Japanese hot pot.
  • Haru Korean BBQ: Literally for the Korean BBQ. It’s quite a gem in the old town.

Elevated Options

  • Williams ButchersTable: Officially ranked the best Steakhouse in Switzerland.
  • Razzia: If you love architecture, you will love this, it’s located in a former 1920s cinema and is really pretty.
  • blindekuh: For a dine-in-the-dark experience. I haven’t done this one in Zurich yet, but I did it in Geneva and it was transcendent.

Intimate

  • Candlelit dinner at home: Honestly one of my favorite options, nothing beats dressing up and setting a spoiling table at your own place. And to be honest we might go for that and then book one of the restaurants right after Valentine’s. I already looked at some cool ideas for a romantic dinner at home on Pinterest 🙂

If you have some recommendations for me of places I should try, I’d be more than happy to hear about them!
