I recently heard about these amazing “Tavolatas” happening right now and they sounded incredible, so I had to check it out myself! BTW, if you want to see a video of my first hand experience you can find it here 🙂
They’re essentially those long-table dinners, but this time, they are set up directly in the middle of a vineyard. Just imagine it: being under the open sky, with a glass of delicious local wine like a crisp Fendant or an elegant Petite Arvine in hand, all with a stunning view of the Valais mountains.
And here’s the best part: you get to meet the winemakers, learn about their history and craft, and hear the story behind every glass. It’s an immersive experience that goes way beyond just eating out. You’re not just having a meal; you’re sharing a fantastic dinner with wine pairings, a unique opportunity to connect with the very people who make the Valais region so special.
They’re all about Valais wines, which is BTW Switzerland’s largest wine-producing region. There are events in different locations around Valais and even two right here in Zurich! This makes for a perfect getaway without having to travel far. I for example combined it with a visit to Sion and the underground lake of St Leonard and it was magical!
Also, They have all sorts of menus, from traditional raclette and fondue to more gourmet options, so you can always find something that speaks to you.
