Autumn Activities in Geneva

Autumn is already here in Geneva and there are plenty of fun activities to do! I made for you a practical list here- Feel free to let me know which one you liked. Or even add your ideas!

Take a walk by the Rhone river

Sentier du Rhône is technically a 05:25 h hike! but you don’t even have to do all of it, there are so many sections you can choose from and in almost all of them you will enjoy stunning autumn colors and lake reflections. If the weather is nice I would also suggest you to enjoy a nice picnic by the river. Plus there are even designated areas for BBQ!

Visit a wine cellar & Enjoy wine tasting

Geneva’s wine region is the third-largest winemaking region of Switzerland! which makes it a perfect place to explore one of the local vineyards and have a Wine Tasting experience. Here are some of the places you could visit: Domaine Les Perrières, Domaine du Paradis.

Have a little Train Ride

The little train takes you on a 20 min ride to explore the old town of Geneva starting at Quai des Bergues. It runs daily from March till December- Here you can find the schedule.

Price: Adult 10.9 CHF, Geneva City Pass discount- Free, Child 6.9 CHF.

Enjoy an Evening Cruise + Fondue

Another incredible activity you can enjoy in autumn is cruising on lake Geneva while having a delicious Fondue. The cruising boat is a stunning Belle Epoque boat- over a 100 years old! It takes you on a 2.5 hours tour on the lake, with stunning blue hour views to the Jet d’Eau and the surrounding.

The price of for the Cruise including Fondue: Half Fare 39 CHF, Normal 49 CHF.

Explore the Botanical Gardens

The botanical Gardens in Geneva are simply perfect to enjoy a stroll with autumn colors. They have an impressive variety of plants and the Gardens are open everyday from 08:00- 19:30.

Price: Free.

Visit one of the Animal Parks

Bois de la Bâtie– a beautiful little animal park located in the Bâtie woods. Perfect for a stroll or even longer walk combines. Entrance is FREE and the park is open everyday. From April to October 08:00- 20:00 and November to March 08:00-18:00.

BioParc Geneva– a little animal park with a mission to help species under danger of extinction. The first entrance is FREE of charge and from the second they encourage you to become a member (membership-50 CHF for a year).

Vivarium de Meyrin– Located a few tram stops from the center of the city with more than 200 animals from around the world representing about 50 species. Price: Adult 11 CHF, Child 6 CHF.

Hike the Salève mountain

The Salève mountain is also known as the Balcony of Geneva as it offers magnificent views to Geneva and the Lake. On the other side of the mountain you can also find view to Lake Annecy.

How to get there? Take bus no. 8 to Veyrier douane – terminal station and hike from there. It takes around 7.5 hours up and down but it’s pretty steep.
